Quote of the Day.
“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.” – Aaron Siskind
Every so often I will come across a lovely quote that truly touches my heart and is profound enough to provoke mixed emotions and to make the memories of my life flood back into my mind, this would have to be one of those quotes.
Reading lovely quotes always makes me feel empowered, enriched and alive. Beautiful quotes like this create an instant feeling of euphoria for me and make me pleasantly happy for the photographs I capture and for the profession I am in, but it also makes me grateful for the fleeting moments in my life, for days gone by and all the memories had.
It makes me stop and think ………
Our daughter Isabella turns 3 this year. She is by all accounts a big girl now, a toddler and sadly not my little baby any more. I look back and often wish I had captured more of her emerging little life back then, more of the details. Somehow I think all Mums and Dads do this during their children’s lives, the guilt of the ‘should haves’ or ‘could haves’.
So now after reading this quote I am trying not to concern myself with the the ‘should haves’ and find happiness in what I did capture, savouring all the lovely memories I was able to capture during her ‘baby’ years. Her little hands, her sleepy smile and the time long ago when I could cradle her in my arms and sweetly rock her off to sleep.
I look forward to capturing her today as she twirls and dances to music, tomorrow as she paints pictures and talks about butterflies and in the future as she grows into a young woman.
How sweet life is!
In essence, try to savour the memories, remember the little things and photograph them often.
